Before you pick flowers and fill the jar with water, turn it upside down, center the hankie over the bottom and slip a rubber band all the way to the top. Arrange the hankie just so. After you get it the way you want it, you can leave the rubber band on or tie the top with a ribbon and then clip the rubber band off with some scissors. Watch for hankies in second hand stores and antique shops. A bouquet of flowers adorned with a dainty handkerchief is a lovely gift. Once you put a bunch of hankies into circulation, you might end up getting some back like I did. In a future issue, Ill show you how to make a dust cover for your bed from your collection of hankies. P.S. Tamara puts fresh or dried mint in a hankie tied with a ribbon as a gift to friends who have the flu or morning sickness. When the sachet is gently crushed and the mint fumes inhaled, nausea is diminished. An organic solution to store-bought vapo-rub.
