Dear MaryJane ...

I just finished reading your “Simply Bee” issue. I was especially impressed by your willingness to print stories about REAL mothers and children. As a mother, reading about the challenges that Julia and Tracy are facing was so relevant. I am sure that in 2009 many more readers will find your magazine and learn to enjoy the rewards of your hand-hewn lifestyle. America desperately needs the community you are teaching us to revive. Thank you!

I just received my first copy of MaryJanesFarm, and I was totally and wonderfully surprised by all the stories and photos. It made me smile and laugh and want to cry all at the same time! I read it through page by page, even the advertising, because I didn’t want to miss a thing!

Thank you for publishing this beautiful magazine! I picked up my first issue, “The Art of the Egg,” back in 2003. I haven’t even minded the added advertisements, as you have been thoughtful, tasteful, and selective, keeping with the theme and soul of the publication. The photography is exceptionally wonderful and it is great that the folks involved in putting out the magazine are local!

The “Simply Bee” issue was in my mailbox today—what a nice treat for a January day full of wind and snow! Honey is a staple at my house. I’ve eliminated most white sugar from my diet and I feel much better! I can’t wait to see what you come up with for the issue on plums. Where I grew up, in a town settled by Italian immigrants, every homestead had at least one “Italian prune” tree.

Wow! Where do I begin??! I stumbled onto your website about a year ago and thought it was too good to be true! Could there really be someone out there who cared about and liked all the same things I did and more? I got so excited that I decided to start my own Farmgirl Chapter and become a Sisterhood member. I don’t know if you realize how much courage and drive you give us to continue to hold onto what’s important to us and to know that each and every one of us can make a difference in this world—one Sister at a time!

I just want to say thanks for all the inspirational thoughts and images you’re sharing. You’re truly making changes in the world by showing others we can make a difference in small, simple steps. Reading about your efforts gives me hope!

And here’s what women on our chatroom are saying about our “Simply Bee” issue:

OH MY! Did you write this issue especially for me? It is absolutely beautiful. I am serious when I say it may be ... probably is ... no, absolutely is ... the best issue to date. It is just lovely. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This edition is particularly lovely ... I’ve been savoring it and nibbling at it like a creamy, delicious dessert that I want to last and last and last ...
