Dear MaryJane ...

I love your magazine!

Each and every issue informs, educates, inspires, entertains, instructs, and makes me believe that I can do it, no matter what it is!

Make jam? No problem!
A hat? Sure!
Put up fencing? Why not?!
Renovate? Thought you’d never ask!

So what got me to write? The chain saw article [“Girl-friendly Chain Saws” in our “Nifty Thrifty,” Aug/Sept 2011 issue]. You see, my husband is a chain saw wood carver. I’ve always felt like I could carve too, but the smallest of David’s saws is too much for me to handle, never mind start. Ever since I read your article, I’m hankering for a Stihl model with an electric start. Thanks for de-mystifying the chain saw for me, and making me believe I could handle one! And thanks for a great magazine—I look forward to every new issue, and although I may not always have the time to make every craft or try every recipe, I know that if I do have the time or the desire, I can do it!

As I looked through my MaryJanesFarm magazine one day, I noticed, with a sigh, that a certain picture reminded me of those old-fashioned valentines. I thought, “Why not make my own valentines?” My grown handicapped daughter loves chickens; where can you find pretty valentines with cute chickens on them? My little granddaughters love butterflies, flowers, hats, and ponies, not TV characters; my grandson loves trucks and bugs and plants, not just superheroes. I read my MaryJanesFarm cover to cover, then taking my scissors (and checking on the back for important things that I don’t want to cut up), I “go to town.” All I need now is some silver glitter!

Isn’t it just fabulous from front cover to back cover?! Even the advertisements are beautiful. I can’t even begin to pick a favorite article, because I truly enjoy everything in every issue!

Dear Mrs. MaryJane,
My name is Emma. I’m 12 years old. I’m one of five and homeschooled. My mom and I LOVE your magazine! I like to crochet and sew (mostly crochet). When I crochet, I don’t use a pattern — I have one in my head. As for sewing, I love your T-shirt skirts and look forward to hopefully making one. My family has a garden and chickens, too. I also want to tell you my mom is making a quilt out of old jeans. She cuts the legs off, cuts the legs into squares, and sews them together.

Anyway,
you rock!

Sincerely,
Emma Kate
