I have found so much cool stuff over the summer (I have more time to go and look), I wanted to share! Please post your cool finds too! Most of mine were from thrift stores, or a local thrift store warehouse. I don't care for them as it takes WAY too long to find something, BUT on occasion I do- like this burlap bag full of beans! I thought I could make the bag into a pillow. Will see if the beans are any good! $6.00, because it was sold by weight.

My foley food mill, $3.00 and french bistro pitcher, 1 qt. size, $1.50 (half price). I always keep water on the dining table...

Breadbasket $1.50, just dusty and touched up with "old english"

Bread slicer, was missing the end, we cut some scrap plexiglass, works great!

Foley 5 cup sifter, $4.00 vintage store, works!

My husband found a camera tripod, for $6.00, worth over $100.00, boy was he happy!

Pocketwatch clock from the local Habitat Re-Store, $1.50, broken clock part, swapped from an old one I didn't want anymore. Cute! I saw something very close in the Pottery Barn catalog yesterday, was much smaller and over $60.00, wow! It's about 14" across...

I should add- I have gotten great deals over on eBay too-
brand new, never worn, black, smooth leather clogs, Halflinger brand, $30.00 (for work), usally around $100.00 new. I HAVE to wear good shoes, stand alot on my job....

Wool sweater, $10.00 like new, was $65.00 new, I had the same one, years ago, wore out, like new! What a find!

Post your cool finds! Let's inspire each other!!!

Be the change...

Oh, sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a shopping trip that had no husband tagging on to try and make me quit.
The shop was Another Man's Treasure, a charitable boutique. I drove up there in the chilly air, warm blouses for to seek.

Enough Gilligan's Island intro- you can fill a large paper bag for $10.60. I tightly rolled all my finds so I could get more in the bag. In all, I got 17 tops (one didn't get in the picture). The gray cashmere sweater was shrunk, I thought I could still wear it, but it was too tight. The dark blue Oxford shirt is too tight across the bust. All in all, less than a dollar a shirt!

Tara, I was just in our local shop at the right time. The lady in charge was clearing out winter stuff for the warmer weather. I still got some use of the sweaters before I packed them away for summer.

How did you find the free clothes? There are a lot of thrift shops around upstate sc and I really need to explore them.
I would love to find some jade glass bowls.

I found a little Haviland Limoges dish at a garage sale for $1.00! I was so excited! I will use it at a ring dish or for my cute little paperclips at my desk, Perhaps I'll rotate it back and forth! I love limoges dishes, I find them so feminine and beautiful - I have a few serving dishes I've been collecting for special occasions and am always watching!

Free, free, free, free, free!

I love the turquoise beaded dress. It's a size 8 which will keep me motivated to stay healthy. The shirts and skirt are perfect for spring.

The white lace jacket will be worn over my Easter dress, the orange jacket is merino wool(!) and the green sweater has some wool in it. I also forgot a purple plaid shirt, but it fits.
All these were picked up at a clothes closet in Brooksville run by a church. The lady there said she was giving away some of the winter clothes so she'd have room for spring clothing.

This is my $3 dress. It was on a rack of clothing outside a "girly stuff" store, and I figured even though it was a size 10 and I wasn't sure it'd fit i couldn't go wrong. I also got a paisley print t shirt.

Three boxes of vintage (40,50,60's) sewing patterns. I'm like a kid in a candy shop.

I only went to 2 yard sales this morning, but hit a jackpot. Got a Kenmore sewing machine for $30, a lusterware bowl and several Kentucky souvenir plates, including 2 of the old Bracken County high school which has been torn down. A piece of history!

Vanessa,, I forgot to mention,,, I had read somewhere,, long time ago, that a lot of unknown brand name sewing machines were manufactured to use Singer parts.

Maybe you might get lucky and be able to use a Singer bobbin case ... you might have to match it up to the same year or Decade Singer machine to your 'Electro Brand 300'

Vanessa,,, awesome machine... now have fun!
oh, and I am sure you already have 'googled' the brand to find out where you can find the bobbin case.. ebay is usually a good place to find anything and everything.

Beautiful machine---I sure hope it works. Older sewing machines really had style---but when I was young and in home-ec all we had was an old treadle machine. I could sew up a storm on it and my mom used it until she died in 1997. My sister still has it.

My CASA director, knowing of my fondness for sewing, offered her grandmother's sewing machine to me. It is an Electro Brand 300 with push button zig zag. I've just cleaned the cabinet and will see if it still works.
In case you aren't familiar with CASA, it stands for court appointed special advocate. We speak for children who are in the court system due to abuse or neglect.

Great finds Sara!!
Especially the cookbook. I love old church recipe cookbooks. I have a few, but nothing as vintage as what that one appears to be.

My sister and I went to an estate sale today. I found 3 half aprons for fifty cents each. I wear bib aprons but I like to decorate with half aprons or have on hand for gifts.

A Wesleyan Service Guild cookbook from Roby, TX for $2. No date but all advertisement phone numbers were 3 or 4 digits. The little town is near Sweetwater. Do any of my Texas FarmGirl sisters know when 3 or 4 digits were no longer used?
