Posted - Jul 13 2009 : 7:32:00 PM I would love to see some posts about creative gardening ideas! I have learned almost all i know about gardening from my grandmother. She grew up in an old farm house and has the greatest ideas! She has planted flowers in old watering cans, those old speckled cook ware pots, she would make raised flower beds from the shale behind her house. (I have also done this at my house, compliments of grammys unused shale!) She has even went as far as planting little flowers in those vintage tea cups and saucers. If anyone has any cute ideas post them!!

Posted - Apr 05 2012 : 5:14:23 PM I have moved this old trough of ours into position to turn into a flower bed near the barn. Hopefully it is nice enough this weekend to do that.

Posted - Apr 03 2012 : 05:30:12 AM What a cute idea about broken dishes. Now I have to go break some old dishes to put in my garden! (Just kidding) but I do like the idea.
I was a cute cup and saucer glued together and put on top of a pole to make a bird feeder. It was at a craft show and just adorable. They had mismatched plates and bowls and some glass light fixtures too. I think I will try some of those too.

Posted - Mar 31 2012 : 7:40:40 PM I put all of my broken dishes in the garden poking up between the plants here and there. A cracked bowl sitting half in the dirt makes a happy toad house! I guess it's an old English custom. Don't really know. But I've been doing it for years. Susan

Posted - Mar 26 2012 : 7:27:56 PM haven't been able to read all the posts but saw a great idea tonight. If you don't want to build a raised bed or dig up your lawn, use pallets. Fill them with your soil, plant in between the wood and the wood will keep you from having to weed!

Posted - Mar 14 2012 : 5:56:56 PM Wow it is spring again!
I saw a frog today - a real frot and it is only the middle of March in Pennsylvania. Unheard of finding frogs at this time of year here. I hope he survives if we get a cold snap.
Glad to see this is thread is still going strong. Some really creative folks here.

Posted - Jul 18 2011 : 05:29:40 AM My neighbor has an old wheel barrow, barrel...whatever you call them...anyway, she has potting soil in and she grows her rows of different lettuce in there...the bunnies can't reach it and she can roll it wherever she needs it...it's too darn cute, I've been looking for an old one at a yard sale for weeks now.
