Posted - Jan 09 2012 : 3:11:35 PM Hi Farmgirls!
MMMmmmm, mmmm. I am making one of my favorite meals for my dd and dh tonight. Homemade Texas chili, served with fresh buttermilk cornbread baking in my cast iron skillet. Will top the chili off with cheese and sour cream, and wash it all down with fresh-brewed ice tea! It's a chilly night out, so it's a "chili" night in! Wishing I had a kitchen-full of farmgirls to share it with!
Does anyone else have anything yummy you're cooking up tonight?
Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Posted - May 20 2013 : 06:17:45 AM Okay, we are all still wondering what is chicken bog?
I've had a few days off from cooking, and today I have a sick little one home, so I will make easy "One Skillet Macaroni and Beef" on this cool, grey night.
Hugs, Nicole

Posted - May 09 2013 : 9:33:14 PM Alright...curiosity piqued-what is Chicken Bog? We took advantage of the half decent evening and no rain and grilled bison burgers, grilled asparagus and potatoes. Ate it on the porch and listened to the rain that finally fell :)

Posted - May 09 2013 : 05:17:49 AM I love watching the Kentucky Derby, but keep forgetting until the last minute about it. I want to do a Sisterhood Chapter get-together one year where we drink homemade Mint Juleps and wear big hats and watch the derby.
Tuesday night I ground up fresh organic chicken breast, mixed it with onion, orange bell pepper, garlic, salt and green stuffed olives and made chicken burgers. Served it on organic, fluffy buns and garnished it with avocado and tomatoes.
Last night dh made danish food: frikadeller, or danish pork meatballs with potatoes and brown gravy. It's a classic danish meal.
Tonight I need inspiration. Hasn't hit yet...

Posted - May 08 2013 : 07:21:15 AM Sharon, glad to know that it's a reminder--it's such a great day in Kentucky, even if it WAS rainy and cold!
I love taco soup--just so yummy!
I think tonight, if it doesn't rain (I've said that every day this week so far), we're going to grill a pizza on our new grill. Cross fingers that "scattered thunderstorms" stay well to the north!

Jonni, whenever I see The Kentucky Derby or hear about it, I think of you
Tonight is:
~Taco Soup ~Homemade Cornbread
Oh, last night I experimented with pie-making and made a Strawberry and Sour Cherry Pie. I added some Coriander and it was so good!

Posted - May 06 2013 : 7:38:58 PM Tonight was just spaghetti and meatballs, but that's exactly what sounded good on this stormy, chilly, grey MONDAY. I cooked all weekend, including Friday night (grilled red snapper with homemade Chimichurri sauce with fresh herbs from the garden), roasted baby yukon gold potatoes with onions and garlic in a foil pack on the grill and steamed green beans with fresh lemon butter.
Saturday was the Kentucky Derby so I made Benedictine spread, Pimento cheese and beer cheese to take to a party. Then Sunday was a First Communion and I was asked to bring the Pioneer Woman's spicy pasta salad with basil, smoked gouda and tomatoes, so I'm pooped after working all day and darn if that spaghetti didn't hit the spot!

Posted - May 06 2013 : 7:21:07 PM Blueberry cobbler, oh yum!
Last night we grilled steaks I marinated with apple cider vinegar, organic spicy steak rub, and olive oil. They were so tender and good! Also made peppers, potatoes, and carrots in foil packs on the grill. Hubby made a light bearnaise sauce. For dessert, Godiva chocolates a client of my dh gave him.
Tonight I made a whole wheat pizza crust (from scratch). Topped it with homemade sauce, sliced tomatoes, basil, spinach, chard and arugula baby greens, and green olives. For a chuckle on my misadventures making homemade pizza, check out my blog post titled "Flying Chickens and Other Kitchen Mishaps" here:http://sfgblog.maryjanesfarm.org/default.asp?Display=100. My crust recipe is in the comments section.
For salad tonight I tossed mixed baby greens, tomato, sprouted seeds, avocado, and peppers with a lemon vinegrette.

Posted - May 02 2013 : 1:42:31 PM Sounds yummy Sharon! I love the first fresh asparagus of the season! And yes, please, to the strawberry shortcake!
I'm manning the new grill tonight--bacon wrapped filet mignons with fresh herb butter, baked potatoes and grilled asparagus.
If these clouds hold and it doesn't rain, we may just eat on the porch!
