I guess Alee (and Nora!) and I started something a while back with sitting out on my porch. No, I don't have one yet, but it is my dream. The porch thing recently got picked back up in my post on needing to be flogged, and several others have since joined us. So, I thought I would offer an invitation to all you farmgirls to come sit and relax on my virtual porch, visit, and just let all your cares and worries slide off your shoulders. Anyone else want to join us? So far, we have Alee and Nora napping in rocking chairs; Melody June is the one who has her feet propped up and listening to Jolie Blond (some GREAT Cajun Music!); Audry brought that tray of the gorgeous cucumber sandwiches; Diane brought sweet tea and vodka; Toni brought apple and cherry pies and is sitting on the porch keeping the dogs down (and we made a pitcher of unsweet tea just for her, but I'll bet she'll share!) Ladies, all are welcome, and there are still plenty of rockers and porch swings left. And I'll bet Toni will move over a bit and let you share her step! Come join us! Hey, Alee! Wanna wake up long enough to get a bite of this cherry pie? Ooh! It is so delicious!

Hi My Porchies...

Cherime...80 degrees in Alaska...that is a heat wave girl. Are you loven it or hating it?

Teacher Tammy...Did you like Peachkeeper?
I just finished that Scotland Yard book called The Yard. Knowing the kind of books you like...I wouldn't recommend it for you. I am now reading the Ruby Brooch...which I think was a Prime Once a Month Borrow on my Kindle. It is good...if you like books with the premise that people can go back in time. Then I have read two reviews on books on The Titanic that I am going to order Monday when I get paid. One is called Ehoes Of Titanic (christian fiction) and the other is called The Girl Who Came Back Home (a titanic fiction). I love all stories about the Titanic for some reason.

I am glad to hear that you are relaxing my dear...and I love that you are dropping onto the Porch everyday.

RFM Tammy...oh my goodness it doesn't sound like your man is having very good luck with the work environment he is in. But How Very Rude of his boss to walk out on him in mid-conversation.
I was really wondering how all the Life Long Residence of ND were liking all the new blood that came in for work opportunities. Doesn't sound like they are too appreciative.

Hope you have a good dinner out tomorrow after your loooonnnnggg day at work.
My DH and I take each other out once a month when we get our checks. His comes in at the first of the month and mine comes in at the end of the month. We enjoy that. We use to eat out a couple times a week but just can't afford to do that any more. We had to learn to unspoil ourselves. LOL

Becky...you should almost have a year round growing season where you live don't you? Ours is very short...so, I was thrilled when I got to pick that first zuchinni so early in the season last week.
It tasted mighty good too.

Darlene...Hi Girlfriend...I got the Pet Stroller on line.
The best thing to do is google Pet Stroller and then look through the options and prices. I actually searched on Amazon because I do so much online business with them.
So sorry to hear about your wacky eyes. LOl Does sound like you need to get them checked. I fell one time walking Bella when I had her...and the impact was so jaring that I had floaters for about 3 months. That is the most uncomfortable sensation isn't it? Mine looked like little black worms.

Hope you figure out how to post pictures on here (it is really easy) so everyone can see your bathtubs.
Thanks for the Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. Yummy!!!
I am glad to hear that you like your bread machine. I have always wondered how good they were. I would probably eat twice as much bread if I had one...and that could be a very bad thing. LOL

Well girls...I got a replacement Kindle today in the mail...because my other one started doing some weird stuff...and when I went to transfer all my content over...I couldn't figure out what our Wifi- Password was.
And you've got to have that little piece of informatio or you can do NOTHING! I tried everything I could think of...spent all day trying to figure it out. Finally my youngest son came over tonight and he had it all up and running for me in about 20 minutes. He had set up our Wireless system a year ago when we moved in to the apartments but even he couldn't remember what he set the password up as. But he was smart enough to get my Lap top to spit out the information going at it back words. Just when I think I am pretty computer sauvy...something happens to prove me wrong...again. LOL
Thank God for my son!!!

Night and Sweet Dreams My Lovelies,
Peggy

Hi my porchies,

Bunny-Hoping and praying that you get that job. You are so gifted with your sewing and I wish you could get a job in that field.
You would just bless everyone. I wish I lived closer so I could learn from you! It's a nightmare to have no money. I went from a good job to no income all through chemo and all. Then when I turned 65 in April and applied for medicare the girl at SS asked me why I didn't apply while I had the breast cancer. I didn't think I could but I could have! DUH!

Peggy-Men, That's all I'll say about that! My Jackie is totally blind now and she is so sweet and takes her eye drops like a trooper 4xs a day. Now she has an abcessed tooth and is on an antibiotic for 2 weeks and then gets it extracted. Can't wait to see what that will cost. Poor GF! I need a strller like you have. Where did you get it?

Judy- Happy Anniversary! 44 for us and believe me it's a miracle!LOL! Glad Mama is doing ok. Continual prayers. Enjoy your time with hubby.

My eyes have been wacky since the chemo and yesterday I couldn't even see the screen. Then I started to have black floaters with one big one to the right with like cobwebs. I'm a little concerned so I will call the Doc tomorrow if it continues.

Alicia-What a cute daughter and chick!LOL! I'm not as good as Bunny but I would go online and look at all different patterns.
Then I would make a block to see if I could do it or not! It becomes addictive!

TLT-Can't wait for the tea. Good to be back in the swing of things!

I baked a banana cake with cream cheese icing so help yourself. I also made bread and strawberry jam. Enjoy! I don't buy any bread anymore. I only use my bread machine. Do any of you use one?

All you other ladies-wishing you well.

Be Blessed,
Darlene

Good evening my friends,

Well it has been a busy few days for me. I have been on in the evening reading the posts, but just too tired to write anything. Fell asleep at the keyboard so had to give it up until I could stay awake and think straight.

Judy, Wow seven years. My husband and I are going on 5 this coming December and by the time I am 58 we will be hitting 6 years. So glad that your mom is doing great. Do try and enjoy your time together while you have it. We have so little time together right now and I will be glad when December comes and our vacation time as well.

Bunny, Loved the pictures and I hope you hear about your job soon. The waiting is the hardest. I am not looking forward to the time when I will be in your position and waiting to hear about a job. I still have a couple of more years before I finish college.

Tammy, loved your front yard and I agree the bench does not need to be painted.

Well the garden work is coming along slowly, but progress is being made. Hopefully by the end of this month I will have the ground tilled up and the new dirt worked in. We have mostly sandy plots so I will need to add dirt to make it doable for a garden. I still have not decided what I am going to plant in it. I have butternut squash in my front yard, and a very small potato patch in the back yard. The squash is doing great and the potatoes are okay.
I have been making aprons and working on swap items while I try and rest. My husband says I do not know how to sit still for 5 minutes. Maybe I do, maybe I don't. I just know that I have too much to do to relax at the moment. I will be trying my hand at canning this year and bought about 3 books on the subject. I have no idea what I am doing at the moment, but practice makes perfect they say. We shall see. Well I am making applesauce for a cake later tonight so I had better go and see how things are cooking. Have a lovely evening.
Becky

May the stars carry your sadness away. May the flowers fill your heart with beauty, and may hope forever wipe away your tears.

Evening everybody! Busy day at work but I can tell we're starting to slow a smidge - a very little smidge but still a smidge lol. Manager asked if I'd come in extra hours tomorrow so I'll be working 11 hours (6am - 5pm) YIKES. I've already told the man we're eating out because I know I'll be exhausted.

M* got a new supervisor at work and he's getting really concerned. Apparently an email was sent out today regarding paid time off and it wasn't sent to his email and another email regarding the truck department was sent out to everybody but him and he runs the truck department. He said he was talking to the guy today and the guy turned his back on him in mid conversation and went into his office and shut the door. He's getting a really bad feeling. Not sure what we'll do if the worse happens and he gets fired. It's like a nightmare repeating itself - getting praised for the work you're doing and then you're terminated for some BS excuse. For all the hype about how many jobs ND has, I'm beginning to think they're only for North Dakotans. Please keep this situation in your thoughts and prayers. We're out here with no family and no safety net to fall back on.

Michelle - I've been wanting to renovate a camper at least on a small scale for quite a while.

Tammy - Awesome pics! I don't know why but pigs terrify me so as far as I'm concerned he's one brave kid. lol

PeggyAnn - It would be a dream to just be able to wander around in an RV or trailer. Maybe another life lol.

Judy - His thumb looks horrible. He decided to cut off all the dead skin around it since it was black and it's just nasty looking. It's not red or showing signs of streaks at which point his self doctoring will end.

Alicia - Love the brown and brown print you've picked although they seem sort of out of place with the rest of the other colors. If you like them then go with them - quilting is about picking what you like and working with it. What part of Indiana are you from? I'm originally from Plymouth.

Well I think I will go curl up with a book and try to relax a bit before bed. I'll leave some papaya iced tea on the porch :O)

Afternoon ladies,
it is a beautiful day here and I am fluttering around my house doing this and that...maybe more fluttering than anything else...hahahah
Cherime I saw about your heatwave on the news

Judy happy anniversary have a lovely day mine will be 22 years on July 5 and it will be the first time my hubby and I will be apart. I will be on our church youth group trip in Texas so we have decided we would celebrate when I return. I love my Mr. Darcy.

Peggy Inquiring minds would like to know what your latest read is. I just finished The Peachkeeper and now I am reading Murder is Binding. A type of book that is like the tea shop mysteries. It is pretty good.

Welcome back to the porch Sue

Alicia I am a beginning quilter but have not done anything in over a year since we moved and I took up crochet. I find that much more relaxing But Bunny is the gal. She does beautiful work.

Bunny praying you will hear something about the job soon.

Well I think it is about time for me to do some more fluttering. I have been working on some ideas for school and my classroom. My teacher mind just doesn't ever shut off. But I promise Peggy I am relaxing...so don't worry

love to you all

Hello Girlies...Yahoo some of you have come in out of the rain and hopped right back on The Porch...where you belong I might add!

Herblady Judy...Awesome you are on Vacation...how Sweet it tis to have hubby off and some day trips ahead of you. JUST ENJOY Girl!
Happy Anniversary a day early!!! Seven whole years huh? You're still in the Honey Moon Stage.

Well, My Country Treasure...I was just thinking about you today. I thought...I wonder if those two Sweet farmer friends of mine are on their little travel adventure or back home trying to fill that barn back up with critters. I should drop her a note and find out. But ya beat me to it!!! And I find out you've been planting trees instead of vacationing. What kind of trees did you plant? I hope you got some fruit trees too since you love to bake so much.
You and Walt are truly Childhood Sweethearts! I love your story. I bet you two feel like you'll never be able to stand up straight again...after planting hundreds of Trees.
You two always tickle me...how you celebrate major events in your lives.
Buying cows, planting trees...*giggle*...Nothing Ordinary for you two. LOL
I know what you mean about The True Test of a Marriage being The Stinken Rotten Times that you make it through still talken and holding hands and walking side by side. My husband and I just went through a few days of that...but today we sat down and talked, dreamed and prayed together...and all is well with our souls and hearts. And life goes on side by side. And Smilen more!
Hey, did all your beautiful red tulips come back up this year???
Wow...I wish I was one of your drop offs tomorrow...those ruhbarb/coconut tarts sound yummo.
Love you girl...so, happy you are on The Porch now...even though you are tempting my smaller waistline. LOL I have just lost 20 lbs and have about 30 more to go. But I have been sooooo good.

Alicia...if you want advice on quilting
Bunny is your gal.
And Darlene too...they are both great quilters.

Sue...Welcome back on the Porch. We are delighted to have you back. Sit a spell and chat with us for awhile. Hope DH & DS are both doing good after their surgeries.

Bunny...I am getting anxious for you to hear about that job too. Still Praying for you. They say, "Good things come to those who wait." But oh, it is so hard to do.

Did you and your mom do something fun in Portland?

We sure had weather all over the charts the last couple of days huh?
Crazy!

OK My Porchies...Off to bed to read for awhile.

Later Gators,
Peg

Alicia, there is a quilt pattern called "yellow Brick Road" that would be perfect for your fabric picks. Check it out. I use to teach it for beginners because there weren't many seams that had to match. Just the seams between the actual blocks. It was pretty fast to make too.

Nice to see some long lost names here!

I took my mom to Portland (Oregon) today. My truck is running well and she just got hers back. All my money is gone... Not happy about that. But at least we have wheels. Still waiting to hear about the job. I hope it doesn't take too long. Background checks to be done and all. But I would like to know something soon. I hate the waiting. This job is such a big deal for me.

Off to bed for me... Later all!

I have been away from here for awhile due to job changes, husbands surgery & sons surgery, but would love to get back with all you lovely ladies. Sitting a spell on the porch sounds really relaxing & inviting. So...if I could join you all it would be really nice.

Thank you Peggy and Terri!! Perhaps what I should have done first was pick a pattern. Anyone have a tip for a beginner quilter?? I can sew, I have just never quilted.

Apple dessert????? Look you the cat dragged in??? Gosh, the time got away from me again but I keep you all in my thoughts & heart! I sure hope the porch tonight is in the shade because we've been working since 4am & I'm hot & my boots are coming off!!! LOL
Judy, Congrats! 7 big ones! Give each other a tight squeeze! LOL
I couldn't agree more about Peg being the sweetest swap partner! I keep telling her that I think she must give the best hugs!!!
Hubby & I had our 35th anniversary but we say 40 years because we were grew up a mile apart, he lived on top of the hill & me at the bottom & started farming together before I was 16. We couldn't go on a date until I turned 16 so that's where the extra 5 years comes from. OUr new farm is over a 100 years old & no one stopped to plant a tree, flower, or heck even a weed! Crazy people!!!!! So we planted 100s of trees to celebrate our big 40th! I figure that anybody that can see each bent over ALL day, OK..... that comment is mostly about me! LOL.... & still talk & hold hands coming home at night well then the next 40 should be OK. It's kind of like baking your first cake......uneven, lumpy & a wee bit crusty but that darn icing is just soooooo sweet!!! So my hubby is my icing.....well on most days! LOL PS>>>> wouldn't want to do it without him!
One of our daughters asked what the big secret to our marriage was????? I told her straight out that it's not the good times but it's the real stinky, rotten times that if he's willing to hold you tight & stand right there, not a head of you & not behind, just right there beside you & squeeze your hand well then in my thinking a lady has a keeper!
Plus.......both of us are way tooooo tired to worry about getting a divorce!!!!!!! *snort*
We had some much needed rain but we're still soooo dry but it did come & we're having a happy dance for a few days.
The cats, dog, cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks.....well you get the idea are all fine!
Well, if farm life was any more darn exciting I'd be losing my britches so I'm off to get my bread baked for tomorrow's drop offs. I made rhubarb/coconut tarts to put into the baskets for treats this week. Now there's one for the waistline! LOl
Smiles to ALL!
Judy

Yummy apple tart Tammy. I really enjoy a good cup of apple-cinnamon tea too. Thanks!
You certainly are not wimpy. I gauge that by how many carpets you've cleaned lately.
You are one working mama! *giggle* They can keep their 2# weights...just hand you a
cleaning appliance and watch you go! Why...you'll run circles around them. heehee
The Farmers Almanac said that our area was going to have a cooler&wetter spring&summer and
we surely are. I'm enjoying these cloudy, cooler days since I'm allergic to sun and
can't deal with high temps. We've had 70's for so long. It's just great. Plus we don't
have to run up the city water bill trying to keep the posies alive.
Well, hubby is off for a week starting today for our vacation plus Thursday is our 7th Anniversary.
Not too many 58 Y.O's can say THAT! hahaha We aren't going too far from home because of Mama.
We are planning some day-trips. We haven't had a vacation in about 3 years. I'm ready for some "us" time!
Make it a Great day gals!

Good Morning My Lovelies...I got on and read last night but was too tired to post and wanted to finish my latest book called
"Yard" by Alex Grecian. It is a book that takes place after the Infamous Jack The Ripper in London...and is all about The
Scotland Yard. It was a good read...but not for weak stomachs or the faint at heart. LOL

Teacher Tammy...I am glad that you are taking the day off to rest and relax. You work far too hard! How is little Jax doing?
Haven't heard anything about his antics for awhile. Well, your house is all clean, your carpets shampooed and your yard looks
great and you do not have to get out the Humungous Butterfly Net for a couple months...to reel in that Hyper class of Butterfly
Babes you teach. So enjoy your summer (I know it will feel all too short...soon enough).

Alicia...pretty colors in your quilt. What pattern are you going to do? To me personally it looks too busy with all the different
print patterns...but we each have to create to our own likes and dislikes. ~ Love the picture of your DD and her chicken. I think Matt's right...Daisy needs fenced in...seems she has a wandering eye. Meant to tell you that there is a guy her in my local area
who rents out his goats to the City of Portland, OR to keep their vegetation down. You will see him sitting out in a Lawn Chair/with a book close by...overseeing their work. LOL It is really cool though because those goats can go where mortal men fear to tread. That
could be a pretty lucrative business.

Cherime...you seem to have a great love of music yourself. I do too. Maybe that is why I dated several and married one Musician. Just
have a man write a song for me...and I was head over heals in LOVE. Did your husband play in a band?

Judy...Wow girl...thanks for tooting my horn!!! LOL Don't know what brought that on...but you are so sweet. I can tell that you are
feeling less stressed over Mama...cuz you were so stinken funny in your last Post. That's the Judy we know and love!!! She's Back!!!

OK...off to eat and do some daily cleaning before the rain comes and I'm in too much pain to do anything.

Hugs and Squishies,
Peggy
