Connie -

I agree! My electric bill was horrifying and this month will probably be the worst. I can't wait to get my clothesline up.

1/28/2015 Beyoncé’s sister, Solange, and some very fashionable friends went glamping in California’s Joshua Tree National Park for New Year’s Eve.

While there, they took an epic group photo that got me to wondering if Solange might be interested in knowing how glamping got its start. I’ve got the story on Raising Jane: http://bit.ly/1BxW1wD

Matthew McConaughey also used the term "Glamping" when he got married, he said, friends glamped in his back yard!
Loved the pic of your airstream and the fashions!

1/30/2015 Decadent Gluten-Free Brownies:

So here’s the deal. My son, Brian, absolutely loves brownies. He’s always the first to get a brownie no matter where he finds himself. When he tried these he said “I’ve been searching for a brownie like this since Junior High.”

He ate half the pan.

Do you want to fulfill the brownie dreams of your kids? The recipe is on Raising Jane: http://bit.ly/1yflhEz

1/31/2015(Meg) Look who we found reading NannyJane’s book, page by page. Before we took the photo, she’d been at it for quite a while. I had it out because I was making the book’s recipe for scalloped potatoes. It’s not the first time we’ve made them. They rate “best scalloped potatoes” in our home! http://bit.ly/1KggmbW

You must be a really proud grandma Mary Jane with a "chip off the block" granddaughter being trained in. Your book is just fantastic. I read it from cover to cover too.

2/4/2015(MBA Jane) For this week’s Make It Easy/Candlemaking Beginning Level Merit Badge, I burned my collection of store-bought candles down to the nubbins. Nubs? Stubs? Well, no matter; the point is, waste not, want not, so although I don’t intend to purchase a lot of chemical-laden candles anymore, I still wanted to use up the old stuff (and recycle the containers, of course … wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more!).

With the rather confusing and somewhat headache-inducing aroma of Peach-Gardenia-Pine-Maple-Cotton lingering throughout my living room, I settled down some serious researching into the lost art of candlemaking. Three pieces of knowledge were needed for Yours Truly to earn this Beginning Level Badge and I was hot to trot. I was also hot because of all the smoke, but that’s probably a coincidence. http://bit.ly/1EGyUnj

We use to make candles when I was a little girl. We would use our broken crayons to add colors to our candles. It was a lot of fun for kids and adults and like you said, No chemicals! We also made them for school art projects!

I've had plain wax for candles for over 9 years and never used it. LOL! And I've got lots of half-used candles. Maybe I need to make candles. I've got some small demi-tasse coffee cups and saucers I was going to put candles in.

(Meg) Be it destiny or serendipity or simple coincidence, wonderful things can happen when strangers collide.

Are you familiar with Brandon Stanton, a photographer who walks the streets of New York with his camera in hand, asking complete strangers if he can take their pictures? Stanton posts the photos on his blog, Humans of New York, often with an accompanying story or quote from his subjects. He began what he refers to as his “photo census” back in 2010 as a way to capture and chronicle the neighborhoods of the city through the faces of the people who live there.

I’m excited to share what happened during a chance meeting that Brandon experienced: http://bit.ly/1BXPbyi

I love the photos, especially the one of the ladies drinking tea together. I have something in common with young Brandon, I go around my town to businesses giving out handmade products and taking their pictures to put on my website, blog.

I now get requests from other businesses in the area to come by and help them get found.
