7/5/2015 What if Grandma, with a distinct twinkle in her eye, spouted this superannuated jeremiad?

After that pinguid kickshaw, at our last dinner party, I heard the most gawd-awful, borborygmic noises coming from my vicinity. I quickly excused myself from the anile, agelast termagants sitting round the table, talking widdershins around the table until the room was filled with walla-walla (and I’m not talkin’ onions). Off to the frowzy biffy I shuffled, with a real case of the fantods, only to find the thing all puckeroo—no bumf, just latrinalia, a brummagem place if I ever saw one. By this time, I was nearly corybantic with a distinct dipsomania. After a quick trip to the neighbors’ jakes, I reluctantly hirpled back to the dinner table flummery, monopolized now by one particularly rebarbative popinjay … http://bit.ly/1M5x3ZY

7/14/2015 (Meg) The first time we met Jordan, she was a senior on the girls’ basketball team that my hubby, Lucas, was coaching (they won state that year). Then she nannied for us and traveled to Toronto, Chicago, and Honolulu with us. She also worked in our brick-and-mortar store during her years in college. But she’s officially all grown up now! 7/15/2015 Old maps have a certain charm, don’t they? They stir a whisper of wanderlust, even in the heart of this happy homebody.

7/20/2015 Here’s a brain teaser for you …

What’s the only word in the English language containing three Ys? Yeppers, I said three … count ’em, THREE. Even if you’re an ace Scrabble player, you probably haven’t come across this word … because Scrabble only has 2 Ys to work with. And a good thing that is, because this word also contains a Z.

Well, the word with 3 Ys also describes a rare astronomical event involving three heavenly bodies … http://bit.ly/1HEQQyg

7/23/2015 (Meg) I love it when my girls spend time with the elderly nuns who live in a nearby convent. I’ve found myself loving the interaction and wished it happened more often.

So when I learned of an assisted living facility in Seattle that also houses a preschool within its walls, I had no doubt that it was an excellent idea … http://bit.ly/1IkRnar

7/25/2015 In my pursuit of all things farmgirl, I set about helping my neighbor, Nora, earn herself a Young Cultivator’s Make It Fruity Merit Badge.

“It will be fun,” they said.

“It will be educational,” they said.

They forgot to mention that 12-year-olds have the attention spans of gnats on a sugar high, that the high temperature for this weekend was 104 degrees, and that I’m not as young as I used to be. I’m not saying that taking small children blackberry picking isn’t a delight, I’m just saying wear the right clothes and be prepared.

“Prepared for what?” you ask … http://bit.ly/1I0xFNv

7/26/2015 (Meg) Piles of books. I have them all around. Some are mine, some are my hubby’s, some are for the girls, some I want to pass on to friends and family, and some I keep in my collection because I have plans to get to them soon.
