CJ, how do you use the crockpot for yogurt? I would like to make some bigger batches. Maybe that would be a good way to do it.

I'm in Oklahoma this week, visiting my oldest son and his family. My oldest granddaughter and I made cookies in the matching aprons I made and her momma snapped some pictures. This was my favorite.

That is such a sweet picture. I would get a print of that and frame it if I were you. :)

Marie,
Here's the recipe for crockpot yogurt:
- 1/2 gallon of milk (I use raw). Put in crockpot on low and heat for 2 hours and 45 minutes.
- unplug crockpot and let sit for 3 hours
- stir in 8 oz. starter yogurt (I use some from the previous batch of yogurt, or you can use PLAIN, yogurt, good quality)
Wrap it all up in a thick towel and let sit until it's yogurt . . . usually overnight. Sometimes it can take longer.

You could also make yogurt "starter" jars with Yogourmet starter packets that you purchase. One packet for 1 quart milk. It makes the six 8-oz jars that I have with my other yogurt maker
Hope that helps!
CJ

I am off work today so I've devoted the day to working on merit badges. I am planning on applying for the Know Your Roots merit badge in the next fews days and I'm so excited! I loved earning badges when I was a Girl Scout and I was the badge queen of my troop so I feel like I'm reliving my childhood. :)

Hi Shannon H.
Your dish cloth pot holder is cute. I like the colors and your rows look great. You are one busy young lady.

I haven't been able to work on any merit badges lately. I had plantar fasciitis in one foot, and dorsal tendinitis in the other one. One required rest and the other exercise, you just can't win.

I'm going to try and finish my Emergency Preparedness badge, I just need to inventory my bug out bag.
I'm also working on the Stargazing and Calligraphy badges, I just need to read the books.

Hello everyone, I was wondering do you have to do the merit badges in order or can you skip around. Example in Stitching and crafting could I do number 12 first or do I have to do number 1?

Hi Debbie...

If you mean skipoing around in the topics such as the stiching and crafting area 4 crochet 5 knitting and 6 Tatting. Yes you can as I did. I also in Cleaning Up started with 2 Shopping Green. I have all these badges so far.

Debbie, yes you can pick any one that sounds best to you, but you need to do the beginner, intermediate, and expert level of the category in order. Hope that helps.

Trying to apply for a badge but I am not in the US so it won't let me - I can't remember how I did this for my knitting badge!

Hi Hilary,
I just replied to your email, but I'll say the same thing here. For now, I would just enter whatever state you want as a placeholder. I'll see if there's a way to remove the "required field" portion on the application page.
