Dear MaryJane ...

I just had to take a moment to let you know that my very first MaryJanesFarm magazine came in a super-timely fashion, and I am absolutely thrilled with it! Being a farmgirl at heart but living in a townhome, it was just the thing I needed to jumpstart my summer.

Of course, living in a townhome doesn’t keep me from having some of my dream, as I bottled-raised a wee orphan kid for seven weeks this past winter indoors ... with my Siamese cat and 150-pound yellow lab! I really had to laugh at the chicken nappies [in your April/May 2011 issue]. We went through many and all sizes of baby diapers for our four-legged kid. (The secret? A backward diaper and baby onesies! And always, always watch out for Happy Tail!) Then I just got carried away and, well ... let’s just say she had an enviable wardrobe. (If you’d like to see pics of Miss Darla Rose Caprine in her diapers, onesies, jammies, and dresses, pop over to thegoatborrower.blogspot.com.) But I digress ...

It’s refreshing to see a magazine with so much substance. And so beautifully wrought. I look forward to being a long-time reader! Have a wonderful and creative summer ... and please keep writing!

I love creating, and your books keep inspiring me every time I open them. They show me that even though you may live in a suburb with a short growing season, neighbors five feet away, and a yard the size of a postage stamp, the farmgirl in you can live and thrive. It’s all in your heart!

I have kept all of my magazines, and I look through them time and time again.
