Dear MaryJane ...

the historic Barron Flour MillI recently saw a subscription card for your magazine, and it intrigued me, so I mailed it in. I received my first copy a couple of days ago. I was thumbing through just to get a first glance at everything in it. I stopped on the page advertising your Budget Mix. As I was reading the opening narrative, “In 1997, I took over stewardship of the Barron Flour Mill, a four-story, 116-year-old building ...” my eyes welled up and I was actually sitting on my sofa crying.

You see, my family is from Rosalia, Washington, where my mom, brother, and sister were born. I still have family in Oakesdale, and every time we go home, we always drive by your Old Mill. I have a picture of the mill and a narrative about it framed and hanging on my wall, as do my brother and sister. I was so moved by the fact that I had no idea this magazine, this MaryJane, was the same MaryJane who purchased the Old Mill. I just want to say thank you, MaryJane, from me and my family for purchasing the Old Mill!

I’m in love with your magazine so much that I feel you should have your own show on TV ... please consider—I’m sure it would be a go! Thanks for a really down-to-earth magazine!

Thanks for the blogs! My daughter, Rachel, and I have ventured into doing fun things like picking blackberries and making jam, soap, pickles, etc. When we do, we strike a high five and say we are “MaryJaneing it”! My husband has had a creative streak restoring an old alumimun runabout from the 1950s. He is nearly done, and we are waiting for the fun—I guess we can say he has “MaryJaned it” too!
